Heerenveen technical director Johan Hansma has confirmed reports that Ajax are leading the race for winger Luciano Narsingh.
The highly-rated midfielder has caught the attention of big European clubs with his performances this season and is widely tipped to leave the club at the end of the season.
Heerenveen chiefs plan to offer their star player a new and improved contract, but they are aware that Narsingh is unlikely to resist the temptation of joining a big European club in the summer.
“We want to extend and upgrade his contract that runs out in June 2013,” Heerenveen technical director Johan Hansma said to De Telegraaf.
“But there are two parties involved and frankly, I think the chances are small.”
Hansma admits that the club will make the player available for sale in the summer if he fails to sign a new deal at Abe Lenstra.
“If he does not accept, we want to prevent losing him on a free transfer and will be eager to sell.
”If no club match the asking price, then we would like to use Luciano’s services for another season.”
The Heerenveen chief reveals that Ajax have already made an official offer for the player’s services.
“Ajax have already enquired about the player, but we rejected.”
Narsingh is the leading assist-maker in Dutch Eredivisie, having created no less than 20 goals for his teammates this term, while scoring 6 league goals.
