According to Tuttosport, Ajax have set a price of £44 million for Juventus if they want to buy Matthijs De Ligt. The 19 year old has been attracting the attention of Europe’s finest over the course of the last few months, with Barcelona also showing an interest in the teenager sensation. Alas, the Spanish giants also want to bring Frenkie De Jong to the Nou camp, whereas Juve appear to be focused solely on De Ligt.
Juventus seem to have set themselves the challenge of building a superteam, in order to be able to compete both domestically and in European competition. Cristiano Ronaldo served as the first step of that plan but now they appear to be moving towards defensive players, and given his age and maturity on the ball, De Ligt seems like a strong candidate to be their next big centre back.
De Ligt has also made a handful of appearances for the Netherlands’ senior team.
