Ajax Amsterdam have announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of Dutch defender Nick Viergever from AZ Alkmaar.
The 24-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Dutch giants, but the transfer fee amount was not disclosed.
Ajax officials decided to swoop for Viergever when it became clear that key defender Niklas Moisander could be leaving in the summer.
The Dutch giants quickly managed to secure the signature of one of league’s hottest prospects, adding another quality footballer to the roster for the 2014/2015 season.
Nick Viergever came through the youth ranks at Sparta Rotterdam and went on to make 33 league appearances before joining AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2010.
The youngster enjoyed four very successful seasons at AFAS Stadium, making a total of 114 Eredivisie appearances and scoring 5 goals.
Viergever will now embark on a new chapter in his career, having joined one of Europe’s most decorated clubs.
