Ajax stopper Niklas Moisander has made it clear he was not aware of the reported interest from Everton.
The Toffees were thought to be pondering a last-minute bid for the Finnish defender as a replacement for John Heitinga, but the Premier League side eventually failed in their quest.
Nevertheless, Moisander himself believes it was just a transfer rumour since he doesn’t know anything about the Everton link.
“I have not heard from Everton. So I think it was just a rumour,” Moisander told Nusport.
The 28-year-old does not regret not joining the Premier League side, but admits he could be leaving Ajax at the end of the season.
“No, because I want to be champion with Ajax. That’s the only thing I want. And after that, in the summer we will see.”
Moisander is currently enjoying his second spell with the Dutch giants having returned to Amsterdam Arena in the summer of 2012.
He has since played an important role in Frank de Boer’s side, making 45 Eredivisie appearances and scoring 5 goals in the process.
Ajax appear to be on course towards their fourth successive league title, with the Amsterdammers 1/2 favourites for the trophy.
