According to Mundo Deportivo, Ajax are set to demand a blockbuster £124 million from Barcelona in order to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong. It’s no secret that the Spanish champions have been lingering around the duo for quite some time now, with de Ligt being viewed as one of the best defenders in Europe whereas de Jong has been compared to some of the game’s finest legends from years gone by.
Barca clearly want to strengthen their squad to the point where they’re the clear favourites to lift the Champions League title, which they kind of already are. Manchester City and Juventus are also both believed to be interested in the duo but Barca are certainly in the driving seat, especially now that Eric Abidal has taken a personal interest in making the transfers happen.
Barcelona defeated Ajax’s Dutch rivals PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last night.
