Ajax and Barcelona are the two European giants that have so much in common it is astonishing. Starting from Johan Cruyff, who changed the two clubs and going on to the clubs’ similar football philosophies, now they also have an agreement for the transfers. Barcelona have the advantage when an Ajax player is leaving the club and the Dutch champions have the chance to sign Blaugrana’s youngsters.
One of those that could have signed for Ajax last summer is apparently Riqui Puig. According to Estadio Deportivo, Ajax were among several clubs who wanted to bring in Puig on a season-long loan last summer, but in the end the player decided not to move anywhere.
He was also wanted by the Spanish clubs such as Real Betis, Eibar and Real Zaragoza, although Puig’s stance was a firm one. So far it seems like such agreement between Ajax and Barca has not brought much to Ajax in terms of signing players, although we must say that transfer fee for Frenkie de Jong was a hefty one.
