Nathan Ake has played down reports linking him with a move away from Bournemouth in January, by stating that he sees his current club as ‘the perfect fit’.
When he made his move from Chelsea in 2017, a buy-back clause was inserted into the deal which favors the Blues ahead of other potential suitors, should the Cherries decide to sell at any point in the future. Chelsea are now apparently monitoring the situation closely and are keen on bringing the versatile defender back to Stamford Bridge.
Despite that, Manchester City have also reportedly expressed a strong interest in his services, having struggled severely with injuries in the centre-back department this season. They did not sign a replacement for Vincent Kompany who left the Etihad in the summer, and they have come to regret that particular decision as they trail league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table by 14 points.
However, Ake told Sky Sports he is happy at the Vitality at the moment, though he admitted that he isn’t looking too far ahead.
