Ake set for Bournemouth return

Bournemouth are close to completing the signing of Nathan Ake from Chelsea, according to the Guardian.

The twenty-two year old impressed during a loan spell with the Cherries last term and is set to reunite with manager Eddie Howe on a permanent basis, after the club beat Newcastle United and West Ham United to his signature.

West Bromwich Albion and Southampton were also monitoring the situation, as were a number of overseas clubs.

Ake played twelve times for the South Coast club last season, scoring three goals while he also made his senior international debut for the Netherlands in a 2-1 friendly victory over Morocco last month.

He made just seventeen appearances for Chelsea across four campaigns but was named their Young Player of the Season in 2013 while he claimed the same accolade with Watford three years later after a year-long loan spell.

Bournemouth have already raided Chelsea this summer having completed the signing of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
