Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed has angrily slammed fans who dislike the statue of Michael Jackson unveiled by the club on Sunday.
A close friend of the late music star, Al Fayed chose to honour Jackson with the statue outside of Craven Cottage.
The decision has been met with mixed responses from Fulham fans, given Jackson attended only one game at the venue in 1999, but Al Fayed defended his decision after the official unveiling before the game against Blackpool.
“Football fans love it. If some stupid fans don’t understand and appreciate such a gift, they can go to hell,” he said.
“I don’t want them to be fans. If they don’t understand and don’t believe in things I believe in, they can go to Chelsea, they can go to anywhere else.”
He said everyone should be proud of the statue as people from across the UK come to visit it.
