Ali Al-Habsi is aiming to repay the faith of Wigan Athletic after completing a transfer from Bolton Wanderers.

The Oman international goalkeeper spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

His performances played a part in the team’s successful battle to avoid relegation from the English Premier League.

And after switching from the Reebok Stadium in a deal worth a reported four million pounds, the 29-year-old intends to set about justifying the price tag.

“Now it is my job to show myself more than I showed last season,” Al-Habsi said.

“I have to show more for the fans, for this football club, because what they have showed me last season was fantastic.”

“I am very happy now because I am going to play week after week.”

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez also believes his new signing has the ability to improve on last season’s performances.

“We had to work really hard to get a player that is well known, that has had a terrific season, but I know that he has another level to go to,” Martinez said.

“I am delighted that he has chosen Wigan Athletic to do that with.”
