Spanish midfielder Francisco Javier Yeste has decided to end his career in the Middle East after signing a two year contract with Dubai based club Al Wasl. The transfer brings to an end Yeste’s nearly two decade long association with Basque outfit Athletic Bilbao.
Yeste will reportedly earn 2.5 million euros a year at Al Wasl. The Dubai based outfit finished fifth in the 09/10 UAE Premier League, ending up with half as many points as Champions Al Wahda.
After announcing his decision to leave Bilbao at the end of his contract, Yeste was a sought after player, with the likes of Deportivo La Coruna, Getafe, Wolfsburg and Villarreal and Olympiakos all showing interest in him.
Basauri born Yeste has been capped by Spain at U-21 level, but has never earned a single cap for the senior team.
