Alan Hutton has raved about Rangers winger Ryan Kent and has praised him for his performance last weekend despite reported interest from Leeds United.
Kent scored for Rangers in their 2-0 win against Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.
The former Liverpool winger found the net in the 50th minute, as the Gers maintained their strong start to the season.
Prior to the game, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard disclosed that Leeds had made a bid for him.
Gerrard added that the Whites’ offer for the 23-year-old winger was turned down.
Former Rangers right-back Hutton has praised Kent for the way he performed despite speculation on his future.
Hutton told Football Insider: “Look at Kent, there’s a concrete bid that’s come in for him which is high and what’s he went and done? He’s gone and put on a good performance.
“He’s knuckled down, he’s worked hard, he looks eager to impress – that’s what you should be doing as a footballer. He’s the one that looks like he can really do something, him and Aribo at the moment are the dangerous players.
“He did have a little dip in form last season but he’s come back and had a good pre-season, he looks sharp, he looks hungry, determined, taking people on, creating problems. He’s a constant thorn in the side of the opposition.
“He seems like a down to earth boy that wants to work hard and is very focused on what he’s doing. I don’t think he’d be turned by the money, he doesn’t seem like that kind of guy, so of course he’ll be focused.”
Speculation remain
Kent is one of the best wingers in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure in the current Rangers team.
Leeds are planning to make a second offer of £14 million for Kent, according to The Scottish Sun, and it remains to be seen if the Gers accept it.
With Rangers aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and are rated at 7/5by Betfair to do so, the Gers need to do their best to keep hold of Kent.
