Alan Hutton has suggested that he does not think that Alfredo Morelos will play for Rangers again.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard dropped Morelos for last weekend’s Scottish Premiership game against Kilmarnock at Ibrox last weekend.

Gerrard explained his decision top drop the Colombia international striker by stating that his mind is not focused on Rangers at the moment.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with French club Lille, who have had as many as four bids for the striker turned down.

Former Rangers defender Hutton believes that Morelos may not play for the Gers again.

Hutton told Football Insider: “The way everything’s looking at the moment it looks like he has possibly kicked his last ball.  We could never sit here and say never but I really think it’s been since January, his performances since then, his goals since then, they’ve hasn’t been great. He started this season again, probably, with a big-money move to Lille in his mind.

“We’ve seen a change in his attitude and that’s probably been the worst of it. His performances have been very up and down, out with the St Mirren performance.  That’s the thing, when your attitude’s not great as well, it’s not ideal. Gerrard’s really relied on Morelos over the past few seasons, there’s nobody else there to score the amount of goals that he has.

“Now he’s brought in reinforcements that he can rely on, therefore if your attitude’s not there, you will not play. He’s got competition. This is the problem Morelos has got. Morelos is only harming himself at the moment.”

Rangers exit

Morelos has been hugely important for Rangers over the years, but the Gers may not miss him much if he is to leave Ibrox this summer.

Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten have been signed this summer, and Jermain Defoe should recover from his injury soon.

This means that Rangers manager Gerrard will have three senior strikers to choose from if Morelos leaves.

Moreover, selling the Colombian striker would also bring Rangers a sizeable transfer fee.

Rangers are rated at 7/5 second favourites by Betfair to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.
