Alan Hutton has suggested to Football Insider that Danny Rose could join Leeds United from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

Rose is back at his parent club Tottenham after a loan spell at Premier League rivals Newcastle United during the second half of the past season.

The England international left-back has one year left on his contract at Spurs, and the North London outfit may look to move him on.

The Daily Star has claimed that Leeds, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, are interested in signing the 30-year-old left-back from Spurs this summer.

Former Tottenham right-back Hutton believes that Rose would jump at the chance to return to Leeds, having been at the West Yorkshire outfit as a youth player before he made the move to Spurs in 2007.

Hutton told Football Insider: “He’s still got plenty of life in him, he’s a very homeboy – he likes to be back home – so I think it would be a move that he would really enjoy, he’d like to get back home.

“Massive club, massive team with a player that’s desperate to hold onto his England career so he’ll want to do well and I think that’s what you need as a new team coming up to the Premier League, you need that quality, players that know the league. I think he’d be a great addition for them.”

Moving to Leeds United

Rose does not seem to have a future at Tottenham, and it would make sense for him to find a new club this summer.

Leeds – who are rated at 4/1 by Betfair to get relegated to the Championship at the end of next season – could do with a new left-back who knows the division well, and the Englishman’s experience would also help head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
