Spanish winger Albert Riera has joined Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv on a free transfer, according to L’Equipe.
The Spaniard has been a free agent since his contract at Galatasaray was cancelled last month and he has quickly found a new club.
Riera is club’s second high profile signing in the space of just few days, with Nigerian midfielder Ayila Yussuf having joined from Dynamo Kiev.
The 31-year-old is best known for his two-year spell at Liverpool, but he has also represented Mallorca, Bordeaux, Espanyol, Manchester City, Olympiakos and Galatasaray.
He has made a total of 60 league appearances for the Turkish giants over the last two and a half years, but was allowed to leave as the club officials wanted to offload a couple of foreign players in order to make way for new signings.
Riera has also earned 16 Spain caps and represented his country at the 2009 Confederations Cup, making 4 appearances at the tournament finals.
