Alberto Aquilani wants MLS move

Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset is reporting that former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is nearing a summer move to Major League Soccer.

The 31-year-old is free to speak to interested sides seeing as his contract with Fiorentina expired a couple of weeks ago.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have since attempted to recruit the former Italy international, but it appears he has other things on his mind.

Having learned of interest from Montreal Impact, Aquilani has decided to move to the MLS and instructed his agent to negotiate a deal as soon as possible.

It is believed the midfielder will sign a two-year contract with the side that have become famous for recruiting former Serie A stars, with Bernardo Corradi, Alessandro Nesta and Marco Di Vaio having defended their colours.

Alberto Aquilani did well to kick-start his career at Fiorentina following a disappointing spell with Liverpool, bagging 13 goals in 81 league outings.
