New Everton manager Roberto Martinez is set to make Antolin Alcaraz his first signing at Goodison Park, the Mirror understands.
The former Wigan Athletic boss brought the Paraguayan to England back in 2010, with the defender going on to make 69 Premier League appearances for the Latics.
The 30 year old is one of a number of players to have left the club following their relegation to the Championship.
Alcaraz’s time at the DW Stadium was hit by injury, though his availability on a free transfer has proved to be too good an opportunity to miss.
The deal, which has been on the cards since rumours of Martinez’s switch to the Merseyside club began to surface, will see the player pick up a two year contract.
The Toffee’s also look likely to keep hold of left-back Leighton Baines, who is set to be offered an improved contract with the club.
