Alderweireld linked with Spurs switch

Toby Alderweireld has admitted that he would be open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Mirror.

The North London side are considering a move for the 26 year old, who is currently on loan at Southampton from Atletico Madrid, and could be set to make a bid at the end of the season.

Should a move materialise, it would see the centre back reunited with Jan Vertonghen, who he played with for four years at Ajax while they are also international teammates, and played together four times at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Since arriving at St Mary’s, Alderweireld has racked up twenty appearances in all competitions, and scored in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

Southampton and Tottenham are currently sixth and seventh in the Premier League respectively, both on fifty-three points with just eight games left to play.
