Ajax manager Frank de Boer will be without defender Toby Alderweireld for their Eredivisie clash with Feyenoord due to a hamstring injury.

De Boer’s towering centre-back picked up the knock in their 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, before he was substituted after 64 minutes.

The Belgium international has yet to undergo further examination but he expects to be unavailable for up to three weeks.

“I don’t think it’s as bad as initially feared, and don’t think I tore the hamstring. I probably need two or three weeks rest to shake off this problem,” Alderweireld told ANP.

The 22-year-old defender, who has made 23 appearances so far this season, is expected to miss matches against Feyenoord and Utrecht.
