Barcelona have been dealt a double injury blow with the Catalans revealing that Alejandro Balde will undergo hamstring surgery in Finland.
Fellow defender Sergio Roberto is also set for a spell on the sidelines with an Achilles problem.
“Tests show that first-team player Alejandro Balde has an injury to the tendon in his right hamstring,” Barcelona said on X, formerly Twitter.

“Once the procedure has been carried out a new statement will be released.”
On their club captain, who has had an injury-hit season, Barcelona said: “First-team player Sergi Roberto has a problem in his left Achilles tendon.

Barcelona return to LaLiga action against Villarreal on Saturday seeking to bounce back from their midweek Copa del Rey defeat at Athletic Bilbao.
They have won their last three league games and beat Villarreal 4-3 away in August.
