Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov could be set for a return to Serie A after seven years in the Premier League.
Former Lazio defender joined the Citizens in 2010 and has so far made 165 appearances in the top flight of English football, scoring 11 goals in the process.
AS Roma are keen to bring Kolarov back to Italy, according to reports from the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, and are said to be actively working on a €6 million transfer which could become a controversial move given the fact Kolarov represented AS Roma’s fierce local rivals in the past.
Manchester City are hoping to wrap up a deal for AS Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy who is expected to arrive in Manchester as a direct replacement for the Serbia international and Citizens are not expected to allow Kolarov to leave until Mendy deal has been secured.
In the meantime, Giallorossi are trying to overcome a major hurdle in the possible deal with the man City defender. Namely, Kolarov is currently on a €4.5 million a year deal with the Citizens and could be forced to settle for a pay cut in order to move to Rome.
