It is finally done. After months of talks about Carles Alena potentially going out on loan, it actually happened this Saturday. Barcelona midfielder will join Real Betis, the Seville club confirmed. The 21-year-old will join Betis on a six-month loan until the end of the season, in order to get more playing time.
Barcelona have decided to send young midfielder on loan to fellow La Liga club in order for him to finally get more time on the pitch, as Ernesto Valverde was not sold on Alena so far this season. He played just 261 minutes in La Liga and Champions League this season, which goes to show how little chances he was given in order to offer something more to this Barcelona team.
Spain Under-21 international will most probably return to Barcelona following his loan spell, as Betis did not find a way to put a potential buy out clause into the contract.
