Cristiano Ronaldo sent to ball towards the Serbia goal and would have earned Portugal a last-gasp victory in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday, but Stefan Mitrovic appeared to have cleared it off the line.
Believing the ball to have actually crossed the line, the 36-year-old protested fiercely with the linesman, earning a yellow card for it, and then he threw the captain’s armband on the ground and walked off the pitch.
Slow-motion footage indicates that Ronaldo was probably right.
Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero understands Ronaldo’s anger and protests, but not throwing the armband and walking out on his teammates.
