Lazio have made Milan’s Alessandro Matri their primary target in the January transfer window, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
It is no secret the Biancocelesti are on the lookout for a new striker after Miroslav Klose revealed he would be leaving Stadio Olimpico when his contract expired at the end of the season.
And while former coach Vladimir Petkovic was showing interest in Nantes captain Filip Djordjevic, new boss Edy Reja seems to have set his sights on Alessandro Matri.
The 29-year-old has failed to prove his worth at San Siro having arrived in the summer from Juventus, and he could be interested in a switch to Lazio.
Even if Milan are prepared to consider a January sale, they are requesting Senad Lulic in return, and it is highly unlikely Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito will agree to such an arrangement.
Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti are reportedly ready to pull all the stops in an attempt to sign Alessandro Matri by the end of the month.
