Brazilian forward Alex de Souza has revealed that he has ended his contract at Fenerbahce.
The club icon decided to leave Fener after he was suspended by coach Aykut Kocaman earlier today.
“I have ended my contract, it was the saddest signature of my life,” the Brazilian wrote in his Twitter account.
“Fenerbahce has lost a player but it has won a supporter, thanks for everything.”
The 35-year-old has spent last eight seasons with the Turkish giants and has long ago achieved an iconic status among the supporters.
The highly rated player even had a statue erected in Istanbul by the club fans few weeks ago.
However, the Brazilian has fallen out with coach Aykut Kocaman at the start of the season, after he was left out of the squad for Champions League clash against Spartak Moscow.
In total, Alex de Souza has scored 136 goals in 245 league appearances for the Yellow Canaries.
On top of that, the playmaker made 49 appearances for the national team, scoring 12 goals in the process.
