Alex Song wants out

Cameroon midfielder Alex Song is hoping to leave Barcelona in the January transfer window, according to AS.

The 26-year-old never really managed to prove his worth at Camp Nou and it seems he is slowly losing patience over the lack of playing time.

Having started just one of club’s first seven games of the season, the experienced midfielder has reportedly set his sights on leaving the Catalans.

Alex Song doesn’t appear to be rated too highly by new coach Gerardo Martino, and that could see him leave Camp Nou at the earliest opportunity.

Under Tito Vilanova, the midfielder made no less than 34 appearances last season, starting 25 of those matches, but he no longer appears to be an important member of the squad.

There will be no shortage of options for the Cameroon international should he decide to leave in January, with Song leaving an excellent impression during the last couple of years at Arsenal.

Song will be hoping to take some part in weekend’s match at Rayo Vallecano, where Barcelona are 1/5 favourites to make it four wins in a row.

Did this fool ever think he would be chosen over all the barcelona academy players? He got all excited that barcelona wanted him, and has now wasted the 2 most prime years of his career. These players just don’t think ahead, he could have waited and got a pay rise at arsenal, +more playing time. I can see him going to galatasaray, a place where good players who have flopped seem to go.
