Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the last season of his contract at Liverpool, and the situation has sparked plenty of speculation about his future, with Real Madrid said to be interested in signing him on a free transfer next summer. However, according to Football Insider, the England international’s first choice would still be to sign a new Liverpool deal, and the talks towards that goal are already underway.
Alexander-Arnold recently spoke about his desire to captain Liverpool one day, currently being the second choice for the armband behind Virgil van Dijk, whose contract also expires at the end of the season.
At the age of 25, Alexander-Arnold has 316 appearances for the Merseyside club in all competitions so far, along with 19 goals and 83 assists from his position on the right defensive flank. Yet to put on a shirt of another club, it’s no surprise that his heart remains at Anfield, but he apparently wants Liverpool to do more in the upcoming transfer windows than they did this summer, when they signed winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus, as well as goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, currently back at Valencia on loan for the season.
