Liverpool and Fulham played a proper seven-goal thriller at Anfield on Saturday, with the Merseysiders coming out on top in the end, having scored four superb goals.
Liverpool took the lead in the 20th minute through a free-kick taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold, but four minutes later, former Liverpool man Harry Wilson equalized for the Cottagers. Alexis Mac Allister then scored arguably the pick of the bunch in the 38th minute for the Reds, but Fulham’s Kenny Tete set the score back level again in the last moments of the first half. With just 10 minutes to go, Bobby De Cordova-Reid headed in what appeared likely to be a Fulham winner, but Liverpool substitute Wataru Endo blasted into the top corner from just outside the box to make it 3-3. And that wasn’t the end. Just one minute later, Alexander-Arnold volleyed in Liverpool’s fourth, and it proved to have been decisive for the outcome.
