Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still appears to have a lot of faith in Alexis Sanchez.
Having allowed the experienced Chilean to join Inter Milan on loan last summer and permanently parted ways with Romelu Lukaku at the same time, Solskjaer has found himself in a difficult situation following the injury set to keep Marcus Rashford out of action for a few months. His options have run very short, especially given the woeful form Jesse Lingard has been on lately. It feels very safe to assume that having Sanchez available would have been an option most welcome, but the deal which saw him leave for 12 months apparently cannot be cut in half.
Nonetheless, Solskjaer is confident that Sanchez’s future is still at Old Trafford. Asked about the January dealings in the past, he was able to recall the acquisitions of Henrik Larsson, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra as good ones, but when the name of Alexis popped up, he only said the former Arsenal and Barcelona man would return in the summer.
“Alexis will come back in the summer and prove you all wrong”, he said.
