(GSM) – Zinedine Zidane has received an offer from Algerian president to replace Algeria’s outgoing coach Rabah Saadane and lead the Algerian squad after the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

The president made the offer during a private dinner at the presidential palace, which also brought together Zidane’s father and the president’s brothers.

Bouteflika expressed his will to see Zidane lead the Algerian team as a replacement for Rabah Saadane, whose contract will come to an end in the summer.

For his part, Zidane has asked the president for a period of time to think the proposal over and give his response. It should be noted that this is the second time that the president Bouteflika has made such an offer to the legendary player to take over the Algerian team, after such an offer was made during Zidane’s first visit to Algeria in 2006.

The former French captain’s response may be positive on account of the good relationship that links him to the Algerian president and his interest in Algerian football.

One fact that may get Zidane into the post is that his friend Henri Emile may soon be appointed as chairman of the Algerian Football Federation.
