Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed that French forward Jeremie Aliadiere is nearing return from injury.
Aliadiere has been out of action since the beginning of January with damaged ankle ligaments. The Frenchman suffered the injury in the FA Cup clash with Barrow.
Boro are struggling in the relegation zone in the Premier League and the Teessiders will be hoping that Aliadiere can give them a boost.
“Jeremie is making steady progress,” said Southgate.
“He will not be ready for this weekend and the cup replay may come a little early, but he could be back in the squad against Liverpool.
“It will be good to have him back with us because his pace gives us options. But we won’t be rushing him.”
