Liverpool have scheduled talks with Alisson Becker and his representatives over a new contract for the Brazilian goalkeeper, which are set to take place during the summer, according to The Telegraph. The 28-year-old still has three years left on his current deal, but the club are keen to offer a renewal of commitment with improved terms, so to reward the immense impact his arrival in 2018 has had since.
Alisson arrived to Anfield from AS Roma on the back of Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in which Loris Karius made two extremely costly mistakes. The fee of £65 million made him the world’s most expensive shot-stopper at the time. The signing of Alisson, coupled with that of Virgil van Dijk six months before, provided Jurgen Klopp’s team balance and turned them into one of the best teams in the world as they won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Premier League over the two following seasons.
