AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri wants his Serie A-winning team to impress until the end of the season, despite having the title sewn up.

Milan sealed the title with a 0-0 draw at Roma on Saturday, but Allegri wants them to finish the job in style, starting with their final home game of the season against Cagliari on Saturday.

Allegri said he would not be taking any games lightly, even if the Scudetto was wrapped up.

“Everyone should play against Cagliari. We have to do what is expected until the end,” he said.

“The players want to end the season in the final home match in the best of ways. The focus will not be the best, but we do not want to leave a bad impression.”

Milan suffered a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Palermo in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, a result Allegri was still unhappy about.

But the manager said his team deserved to celebrate their achievements after Saturday’s game.

“I am still annoyed about Tuesday as I wanted to make the Coppa Italia final, but it’s right for us to celebrate tomorrow,” Allegri said.

“It has been a long time since a team won the Scudetto with games still to play. We had been leading Serie A since week 10.”

Allegri said he expected to sit down with the club in the near future to discuss the makeup of his squad for next season.

Milan have striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on loan from Spanish giants Barcelona, but have the option of buying the Swede for 24 million euros.
