AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri said his side is focused on their Coppa Italia campaign, despite the distraction of winning the Scudetto.
Milan secured the Serie A title with a 0-0 draw against Roma at the weekend, and their first championship victory in seven years sparked jubilant celebrations.
But Allegri said his squad was aiming to progress to the Coppa Italia final with a victory over Palermo in the second leg of their semi-final on Tuesday, after the first 90 minutes at the San Siro ended 2-2.
“Does a possible final with Inter (Milan) fascinate me? I’m just fascinated by the final,” Allegri said.
“The side is mentally prepared for the game against Palermo and I’m sure we’ll play a great match.”
“There was euphoria at training today after winning the title, but the squad then trained as normal.”
“Mentally they are ready. We know that we are Milan and we can’t go to Palermo and play poorly.”
Allegri said the lure of more silverware would spur on the Italian champions to capitalise on their success this season.
“When you are at Milan you can’t stop when you win something because after the Scudetto there is the Coppa Italia, after the Coppa there is the (Italian) Super Cup,” Allegri said.
“You have to always look ahead, that’s a rule of life for me.”
Milan will be boosted by the news that Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo have signed at the club for next season, shoring up their back four ahead of their championship defence.
