Alli in the dark at Tottenham?

According to a recent report from Mirror, Dele Alli has been left in the dark about his exile and future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Alli hasn’t played a whole lot of Premier League football so far this season with Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho largely deciding against using him. While that isn’t a guaranteed nail in the coffin for his Spurs career, it does feel as if he’ll struggle to get back into the starting XI on a permanent basis.

Alli was once considered to be one of the most exciting English talents in the Premier League but as time has gone on, that reputation has diminished. If he still isn’t back in Jose’s plans by the time the January transfer window rolls around, it feels like there’s a good chance he’ll start to look at his options elsewhere – and given his potential, that may be the best route for him to go down.

Why is Dele’s ‘problem’ always framed as Jose not including him in his plans? ‘If Jose doesn’t include him in his plans’ Dele’s confidence will suffer. Dele will get demoralized and leave. Dele will be excluded from the England squad. If Dele played effectively he WOULD be in Jose’s plans. He’s sluggish, tentative and not particularly interested in defending. Even a casual tv-watcher can see this. Stop making Dele’s situation out to be JM’s fault.
