Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso says his team will not prioritise either the UEFA Champions League or Spain’s La Liga over the other.
Speaking ahead of Madrid’s Champions League semi-final first leg against German side Bayern Munich, Alonso said he wants to win both titles.
The midfielder says the Spanish league leaders are not planning to compromise one title in favour of winning the other.
“I prefer not to choose. I will be happier winning both,” Alonso said.
Real take on Bayern on Tuesday and while Alonso rates the German side highly, the Spanish international is certain his side will attack.
“In the first leg, playing away, we want to score, that gives you an edge and because of that we are going to be looking for that one,” Alonso said.
Alonso also spoke of the importance of Real Madrid winning their first Champions League title since 2002.
The club are bidding to win Europe’s premier club competition for a record 10th time.
“The Champions League is always the most attractive competition and because of that, knowing that it could be the 10th, that it could be for the big history of this club to be part of that it will be quite an achievement for each of us, and because of that we are so determined to be able to lift that one,” Alonso said.
