Alonso never thought Hazard would leave Chelsea

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has told Radio Marca that he never felt like Eden Hazard would leave the club. The Belgian midfielder was heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid, and it seemed as if it was only a matter of time before the move was confirmed. Alas, as the summer transfer window shut across Europe, it became obvious that the Blues would be keeping hold of Eden until at least January.

Alonso, who has been with Chelsea since 2016, stated that he always felt like Hazard would remain at the club. Hazard played an important role in helping Belgium reach the semi-finals of the World Cup, and now, you could argue that his stock is even higher. Chelsea have gotten off to a great start in the Premier League this season, and they’ll be aiming to make a big push for the title from now until the end of the season.
