According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Marcos Alonso’s father has hinted that he could return to Italy one day soon.
The controversial Chelsea star has been able to break his way back into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks, and now, the expectation is that he could be back out on the market with a series of top European clubs being interested in signing him.
Alonso previously played for Fiorentina before making his way over to Chelsea and while Frank Lampard will almost certainly be interested in keeping hold of him, there’s also an expectation that Lampard will fancy his chances at finding a replacement in the transfer window.
Alonso brings with him a great deal of baggage both on and off the pitch and while many probably don’t care about any of that, it is worth noting that he’ll be turning 30 later on this year.
