Alonso would be ´perfect´ for Gunners: Cesc

Cesc Fabregas believes fellow Spaniard Xabi Alonso would be a “perfect” fit if the Gunners could tempt him into joining them from arch-rivals Liverpool, according to British media reports Sunday.

Cesc, currently sidelined through injury and badly missed in Saturday’s loss to Fulham, believes Alonso has that “something special” to bring trophies to the Emirates.

“What can I say? He is my friend and apart from that he is a great professional, a great passer of the ball, he works hard defensively, he’s scoring goals now, he’s experienced and he is only 26.”

With Arsenal having to reconstruct their midfield this season after losing Alexander Hleb and Mathieu Flamini in the summer coach Arsene Wenger has been targeting replacements, running the rule over Alonso and also Liverpool target Gareth Barry of Aston Villa.

Cesc, who lifted the European Championship with Spain at the end of the season, is desperate to help Arsenal end a barren run of three years without silverware and is fully settled in North London.

“This club has something special that no others have. We have to take care of it. I want to win things for the club. I want to get experience here. I want to play for Arsenal.

“When you see football all around the world, you see very few teams who play the way that we play.

“I just enjoy it. I feel it is my home now,” said Cesc, who added he would happily skipper the side in future.

Arsenal, beaten finalists in 2006, will expect to reach the Champions League group phase Wednesday when they aim to complete a win over Dutch side Twente Enschede in their final qualifying round return leg having won the first leg 2-0.

Mr Wenger is a very good coach he must stop being a stinger.
young players get experience when playing with experienced players Fabrigas and flamini develop when they were playing with henri viera and…… and now whos gonna make those kids togrow up and play english football .
Wenger sell some no perfomed players and must stop saying that they improving if he can not do that he must be chessed from the club arsenal is desapointing the supporters . And we all gonna run away soon.
I am telling you if no one comes in the team is not gonna rich the quater final of UEFA. and even in the league it will be in the top 10 and not top 4

Denilson is a good player, but not experience enough when it matters. Just a signing will not do, i don’t believe in big names. Signing Alonso. Veloso or barry & an experience center back may not cost much compare to the silverware they will bring to club.

I think after watching that defeat in the weekend,Arsene should resign.I think he is getting senile and he is runnig out of ideas. RESIGN WENGER RESING.

Please Monsieur Wenger buy Alonso! Gareth Barry would be a good signing as well. Stop waiting for Diaby and Denilson to magically transform into Patrick Vieira, it’s not going to happen. If you keep waiting and waiting for these players to transform into superstars Arsenal’s trophy cabinet will continue to collect dust. Buy and experienced player so we Gooners can enjoy trophies, and play these “project players” of yours in the league cup and FA cup games, use them as substitutes. We need squad depth!!
