Xabi Alonso’s career at Real Madrid could be coming to an end after reports suggest that he is not willing to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu, that’s according to Talk Sport.
The midfielder does still have two years left on his current deal at the La Liga side but could leave the club next summer.
This will come as a shock to many as he seemed to be extremely happy with life at Real, but he could want a new challenge towards the end of his career.
The Spanish giants offered him an extension on his contract for a further two years but Alonso did not accept. This news will no doubt attract the attention of plenty of Europe’s major clubs.
At the moment it is Serie A champions Juventus whol seem to lead the way to secure his services.
However, a number of English Premier League teams will also keep tabs on the 30-year-old, especially his former employers Liverpool.
Alonso had a lot of success at Anfield and is loved by the fans there, which could be a big factor in his next decision.
It is certainly a very interesting story to keep an eye on. Will he move on in the next transfer window?
