Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough are set to complete a loan deal for Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo, AS can reveal.
The two clubs appear to have reached an agreement over a season-long loan, meaning the forward will not be going on a pre-season tour of the Netherlands with los Che.
Negredo has instead flown to England to complete a medical ahead of signing an official contract with Middlesbrough.
The experienced striker will not be the first high-profile footballer to arrive at Riverside this summer, with Victor Valdes previously joining and Marten de Roon and Viktor Fischer also added to the ranks.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka clearly believes that Negredo can rediscover the form that saw him become one of La Liga’s most prolific strikers during his time with Sevilla.
The former Spain international also has some Premier League experience, having scored 9 goals in 32 league outings for Manchester City.
