Amalfitano nears Olympiakos switch

Marseille midfielder Morgan Amalfitano is set to complete his move to Olympiakos, according to L’Equipe.

The highly rated midfielder had agreed personal terms with the Greek giants some two weeks ago, but talks between two clubs are still ongoing.

However, L’Equipe understands that Marseille have finally decided to accept an offer of €2 million, giving the player green light to complete his switch.

As a result, Amalfitano will be signing a four-year deal at Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki subject to passing a medical.

The Frenchman will become club’s fourth major signing this summer, following in the footsteps of Vladimir Weiss, Alejandro Dominguez and Leandro Salino.

Morgan Amalfitano arrived at Stade Velodrome from Lorient two years ago and has made a total of 58 league appearances for OM.

However, he has failed to prove his worth at the biggest stage and has, therefore, been allowed to leave the French giants this summer.
