(GSM) – On Thursday night, Juventus booked their second victory in five days time as they beat Ajax 2-1.
Alessandro Del Piero set up two goals for Amauri who went from a four-month drought to three goals in two games for the Bianconeri.
Just like on Sunday against Genoa, Juventus managed to come from a goal behind to claim the victory. Del Piero hopes Juve can continue their recent good form.
“We are happy with the victory,” the 35-year-old forward said on the club’s official website. “Let us hope that we go on like this which would be really important for Juventus.
“We managed to comeback on Sunday and we did so again today (Thursday). Today we managed to do so against Ajax who started off really well and this gives us lucidity and we managed to win.”
Brazilian striker Amauri was very pleased with his two goals. The 29-year-old was under fire before the 3-2 win over Genoa, as he hadn’t netted in all competition since October 28.
“I am so happy. I really needed these goals, I couldn’t wait to get back on the scoresheet and I thank God for all of this,” said Amauri.
“Now I hope to continue along this path, because it is very important for me.”
It is no coincidence that Juventus rediscovered their winning streak once Amauri ended his drought.
“My improvement is really that of the whole team and I am happy about that,” he insisted.
“As for my goals, when a good ball comes in then it’s easier to score. Tonight two great crosses arrived and thankfully I got them in the back of the net.”
