Ameobi closing in on Wolves move

Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on the signing of former Newcastle United striker Shoala Ameobi, according to the Mail Online.

The Nigeria international has been without a club since being released by Crystal Palace, for whom he made just four substitute appearances in a brief spell last season.

Prior to his move to Selhurst Park, the thirty-three year old had an equally stint in Turkey with Gaziantep BB after racking up almost four hundred games for Newcastle across fourteen years.

He also has ten caps for his country, two of which were won at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Ameobi was in the stands as Kenny Jackett’s side drew 0-0 with league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves have taken just eight points from their opening seven games this season, and can now be backed at a price of 10/1 to win promotion by any means.
