(GSM) – Zamalek striker Amr Zaki claims he is close to signing for Hull on loan until the end of the season. The player’s official website claims Zaki will undergo a medical today.

The 26-year-old forward, who spent the 2008-09 season on loan at Wigan, has been linked with a host of Barclays Premier League clubs. Portsmouth have reportedly had a bid rejected.

Zaki also stated that he does not intend to join Pompey since the English club has an Israeli coach. With Portsmouth out of the way, The Tigers now appear to be favorites to land the Egyptian striker.

A statement on the Egypt international’s official website, www.amrzaky.com, read, “AmrZaky.com can reveal that Amr Zaki will fly to England to have medical test at Hull City football club on Saturday.

“The Tigers will sign the Egypt striker on loan until the end of the season subject to passing medical test.

“Zaki had meeting alongside his agent with Zamalek board and agreed the transfer to go through.”

Zaki impressed in his time at Wigan, netting 11 times in 32 appearances while at Athletic. However, he was later branded as “the worst professional” by then-Wigan manager Steve Bruce after off-the-pitch conflicts and frequent absences from training.

Zaki is not included in Egypt’s squad for the African Cup of Nations as the player is reportedly sidelined with injury.

Given, Amr Zaki is a good player but I find him a bit too problematic to handle off the pitch. Let’s see how Phil Brown will handle him if and when the move is completed.
