Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has moved to confirm reports linking the French club with a move for Chelsea defender Ashley Cole.
The England international has entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and he could be sold in the January transfer window if he refuses to sign a contract extension.
The 31-year-old was recently linked with a move to Parc des Princes, and PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti admits he rates the Chelsea defender highly.
“It is normal (there are rumours) because a large number of players are linked with Paris Saint-Germain,” Ancelotti explained to ESPN Star Sports.
“For this season, we have a very good squad but next year, I don’t know what is going on. Ashley Cole is the best left-back in the world at the moment.”
The highly rated full-back has yet to open talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge, and the latest reports claim Cole is thinking about leaving the Blues.
The English defender caused a lot of controversy when he opted to join Chelsea from Arsenal in the summer of 2006, and immediately developed into a key player at Stamford Bridge.
In total, Cole has 187 Premier League appearances for the Blues, scoring 7 goals in the process.
