Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti admits he still plans to take over the reigns at Roma one day in the future.
The Italian fell in love with the Giallorossi after spending eight years there as a player, but he never got the opportunity to coach the Italian giants.
The former Milan boss was linked with a Roma coaching job after he left Chelsea last summer, but the club chiefs eventually opted for Luis Enrique, whereas Ancelotti ended up at Paris Saint-Germain.
The experienced tactician explains that he was never contacted by Roma officials.
“There was never any contact with the club,” the Paris Saint-Germain coach told Max magazine. “Perhaps because I earn too much.”
Nevertheless, Ancelotti reveals that he is still interested in the coaching job at Olimpico.
“I think Luis Enrique has some good ideas and a good philosophy to add to Italian football, but he still needs time.
“A future at Roma for me? Yes, but I hope that Luis Enrique isn’t annoyed by that.”
The Italian has had a mixed success since taking over the reigns at Parc des Princes in December 2011, although the Saints are still in the race for the Ligue 1 trophy.
Ancelotti spent his entire playing career in Italy, with Parma, Roma and Milan, and having already coached Parma and Milan, it is little wonder that he wants to lead the Giallorossi as well.
