Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted to pondering a move for Roma star Daniele De Rossi.
The Italy international has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Olimpico over the last year or so, having been paired with Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City.
Premier League champions are likely to face a stiff competition for the player’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti admitting the club could make a move for the player in January.
“De Rossi is an excellent player. However, I think it was just a temporary decision taken by the Coach for a single game,” Ancelotti said to Radio Monte Carlo, referring to Zdenek Zeman’s decision to bench the midfielder for the Serie A game against Atalanta.
“Links with us? That is only normal. It happens to a lot of players because everyone knows that we have the power to spend certain amounts of money, but the transfer market is closed. We can talk again in January.”
Daniele De Rossi has started just three Serie A games this season, which added fuel to speculations linking the experienced midfielder with a January exit from Olimpico.
Roma chiefs, however, plan to do everything in their power to keep hold of the player who has made 285 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi and scored 33 goals.
