Carlo Ancelotti says he is uncertain of how his expensively assembled Paris Saint-Germain team will fare in this season’s Champions League.
The Ligue 1 club splashed out in the summer on AC Milan pair Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva as well as Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi and Brazilian teenager Lucas Moura.
And while the influx of players have helped take PSG to the top of Ligue 1, Ancelotti has admitted he does not know if his newly acquired stars will immediately adapt to European competition.
“We want to go to the next round of the Champions League, but I do not know what we can do in this competition. I trust, and I hope we can go far,” said Ancelotti.
The French side were beaten 1-0 by Porto last time out in the Champions League and the former Chelsea manager believes Wednesday night’s game against Dinamo Zagreb has taken on further significance.
“It’s an important game. Both games (in Group A) will be useful to determine the position of the group.”
PSG beat Dinamo Kiev 4-1 at Parc des Princes last month and a win against Zagreb would strengthen their position in the group.
