PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti wants a confidence-boosting win over embattled Lyon to ward of Ligue 1 challengers Montpellier.
The Paris club’s lead at the top of France’s top flight has been cut to a point by Montpellier, who continue to punch above their weight with the cashed-up sides in Ligue 1.
Two straight draws sees Ancelotti’s men looking over their shoulders, however, Lyon have woes of their own, with only one point in their last three league games.
And despite a morale-boosting 1-0 win over APOEL in the home leg of their round-of-16 Champions League tie on February 14, Lyon’s domestic form has dropped them out of the top four.
“Lyon are a team with experience and quality. It is not a good time for them at the moment but they won their match in the UEFA Champions League. I think they will have a good match tomorrow,” Ancelotti said.
“I have already said it is important to get a good result tomorrow to raise the confidence of the team.”
“I think we have a good chance tomorrow because we are against a good team with good experience. I hope to have a good match.”
